Saturday the 15th of December 2012 saw the annual amateur radio get-together that is the Waters & Stanton Xmas Open Day.
Doors opened at 9am, and a decent number of local and not-so-local amateur radio folk turned up to enjoy the hospitality.
As well as being a good place to meet and catch-up, there were a few bargains to be had. The bargains table had an odd assortment of handy leads, adapters and widgets, and there was a decent 10% off everything in-store for the day.The ‘Scrooge Bah-Humbug’ award went to Elecraft stock, which was only discounted by 5%, as demonstrated by the blutacked exception sticker added to the signs.
Various merchants were onsite, including reps from Yaesu, Mark M0IEO and Norman M0FZW with the RSGB book stall as well as Justin G0KSC from Innovantennas showing off his new lightweight and low-priced 2m and 70cm beams.
Also present were a number of local clubs, including a sizable turnout by the Essex CW club, and a presence from the Essex Repeater Group. Representatives from the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society and the Thames Amateur Radio group were also in attendance.
here are a few photos captured by Essex Ham on the day:
Thanks very much to the W & S team for laying on the opportunity for Essex Hams to meet up, shake hands, pick up some discounted ham kit, and enjoy the festive food and beverages. Special thanks for the sausage rolls – which rarely made it from the kitchen to the food table without 90% of the rolls being “lifted” in transit. Thanks guys!
