Friday the 5th of July 2013 was “RSGB Centenary Day” – celebrating 100 years of the RSGB.
All members of the RSGB were offered free tickets to attend this special day at the home of the codebreakers, Bletchley Park, and Pete M0PSX from Essex Ham went along to see what the day was all about.

Centenary Events
Events at Bletchley Park on the day included the following:
- Talks and demonstrations from Terry G4CDY and Paul G3SEM
- The chance to try your hand at Direction Finding
- A “buildathon” – with local schoolchildren building a PSK31 data receiver using a Raspberry Pi computer board
- A dip into the RSGB archives by Elaine G4FLM
Several dignitaries attended the event, including the Lord Lieutenant, Sir Henry Aubrey Fletcher, Sir Stuart Hamspon, High Sheriff of Buckingham, and Councillor Brian White, Mayor of Milton Keynes. They were accompanied on their tour by RSGB President Dr Bob Whelan G3PJT.
G100RSGB at NRC
For the day, the centenary callsign G100RSGB was in operation from the station at the National Radio Centre in Bletchley Park. When we were there, Bob was operating the station on 40m, and there’s a short extract on our video
Direction Finding

Amateurs who took the time to register for the event were also able to pick up a free gift, as a one-off for the day – the RSGB Centenary Mug, and here’s Essex Ham’s collectable…
