News received from SEARS, the South Essex Amateur Radio Society, is that the next year’s Canvey Rally has been cancelled.
Here’s a copy of the message that’s been posted on the SEARS website:
The committee have decided that due to the Covid 19 pandemic it would be a mistake to put on our rally in February 2021.
We think it may be the safest decision due to the age range of our members and the age and health of the people who attend our event, the safety of our members and all who attend our events is important to us.
We are hopeful for 2022, all being well as regards Covid 19, the rally is very important for our club and we have been hosting it for over 30 years.
With luck we will hold the rally on the 6th of February 2022, at Cornelius Vermuyden secondary school.
Please keep watching the website for any club news.
Stay Safe!
It’s a real shame to see that the 2021 Canvey Rally’s had to be cancelled, as this is normally a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and meet up with on-air friends, but under the circumstances, it’s not hard to see how SEARS has come to the decision to cancel the 2021 Canvey Rally. This would have been the 36th annual rally run by SEARS, and this latest cancellation follows other event cancellations including National Hamfest, the Kempton Rally and Hamzilla.
According to the RSGB rally page, the next rally in the Essex area will be the Ipswich Rally, set for June 2021.
