If you fancy getting out to play radio in the fresh air this weekend, there are two informal meetings taking place – one near Chelmsford and one near Southend. These are opportunities to bring along your radio kit and try some operating, or turn up and get some advice on how to set up a field station.
Here’s a summary of the the events planned for the weekend on the 7th and 8th of March 2015:
Saturday 7 March – Galleywood Common
Charlie M0PZT and Peter G0DZB are planning some HF along with 2m SSB from a 5ele yagi as it’s the “March 144/432” contest. Location is Galleywood Common, and the expected start time Saturday is lunchtime. Galleywood Common is a nice central location ideal for antennas and operation away from RF distraction. GB3DA will be in use for local QSOs and talk-in. Bring a flask!
Sunday 8 March – Shoebury East Beach
Sunday sees the Essex Ham team playing radios at Shoebury East Beach. The event is being co-ordinated by Steve 2E0UEH and Pete M0PSX. An exact start time hasn’t been arranged yet, but it’s likely to be from lunchtime onwards. Shoebury East Beach has proven itself as a great place to operate, but may be chilly, so bring a warm jacket. There may be some hot water, so bring a cup if you fancy some refreshments!
There are no other field events listed in the Essex Ham calendar for the weekend, except for the Intermediate Course at LEFARS – Good luck to all the candidates.
