20,30 and 40mtr good tonight (2 replies and 1 comment)
Hi Peter
I only passed the Foundation in July so I’m at the very bottom of the amateur radio learning curve. I know absolutely nothing about wspr but really interested, amazed how 1w got to Antartica/timestamp call etc.
Any more information would be greatly appreciated.

WSPR and FST4Ware non conversational,
you literally transmit and look at the relevant monitoring site to see how far you got
look at http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/chat
they are a friendly bunch and helpful
you will need data mode connectivity to your radio and WSJT-x installed for WSPR and FST4W
FST4W required the WSJT-x 2.3.0RC1 beta version and some extra frequencies adding to the settings
basically FST4W frequencies are 200hz higher than WSPR, not a lot of activity on FST4W currently as it is a new standard, it also has a 300 or 900 second cycle so not a quick thing to watch
it suits me as i am not really a talkative person (strange for a ham i know :) ) so digital modes where i just use a keyboard (FT8, FT4,WSPR, SSTV) are great for me, once i get a better location for my radio in the house i may do more but i love the challenge of QRP with 10w or less
Brilliant thanks for the info...sounds interesting. I’m not one for chatting on ham radio, so you’re definitely not alone. Kevin M7KMA
