Best way to get on the air? (3 replies and 1 comment)
The answer was no :) So i bought a Xiegu-G90 SDR HF Transceiver
Hi Dave,
I'm looking at various transceiver radios for when I obtain my foundation licence, how are you finding the Xiegu-G90
Clive
Without a license I can only comment on RX but so far its a brilliant little radio, good clear audio considering the small speaker size, packed with functions and great support from the io.groups forum - its even possible to contact the firmware developer :) I have it hooked up for FT8, PSK, RTTY, etc already just cant transmit :(
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the information, I'll keep that radio in mind.

Hi all, first post, looks like a useful forum ;)
Presume that i will get my foundation license, this is a hardware question....
I have a nice SDR setup - SDRPlay RSP1a & RSPUno software, plenty of aerials up on a pole I use FL-Digi and other software for decoding RTTY, FT8 and other non-voice comms.
The software is internally piped from the SDR and all works really well.
Got me thinking that I want to get out on the air and try using these methods to start with, maybe voice later.
What I want to know is - is there a USB connected TX box that would work HF at 10W - I guess its a SDR Transmitter?
Google search shows very little that makes any sense, maybe i'm searching on wrong terms.
Trying to get up on as little money as possible.
Any ideas? If not possible then what is the best HF radio that will get me connected to my PC and out on the air? 2nd hand is fine due to costs.
Thanks
