First HF Radio recommendations :) (1 reply and 2 comments)
i assume you are looking for a cheap and simple HF rig,
have a look at QCX from QRP-Labs.com if you are going to be using morse, can be kit (which technically currently M7's are not allowed to use) but can be bought pre-built (but Hans and his little elves building them have a little backlog)
if you are looking for something more multimode (voice, data, CW) have a look at xiegu X6100 (5w on internal battery, 10w on 12v) , has built in ATU, battery and is HF+6m (about £600) i have one for mobile / POTA use
there are a couple of other Xiegu radios (G90, 20w, ATU, HF only would need ext battery)
depending on terrain you can throw a long wire over a tree, or take one of the fibreglass poles (see sota beam) or moonrakeronline.com for wire antennas etc for HF
if you are going to be hiking up several summits have a look at https://www.sota.org.uk for a little bit of a challenge
Thanks Peter
Passed my foundation on 11 Oct :) so now actively looking for new TX
