The use of grounding rods (1 reply and 4 comments)
Hi, i have the same thought. Outside my workshop where my antenna is mounted vertically, I have put a ground cable to a Copper dod which was driven into the ground. A copper cable also comes from my G90 and is tapped into the Copper rod with a bronze screw.
I should add the cable is fastened to the mounting pole.
Check out ML&S website and search for lightning arrester, they're not cheap. Amazon also do them a lot cheaper although I wouldn't bet on the quality.
Apologies, have also just seen them on Waters and Stanton's website a lot cheaper. You basically break your coax through them. Hope this helps.
Waters and Stanton have just posted a new video on the subject of grounding on Youtube.

I have installed a grounding rod on the outside of my shack, but I can find hardly any information, Logically the IC-7300 should be grounded, but what else? Also, as I have a 6M vertical antenna, I want to install a lightning arrester, but again where do I look for information? I passed my Foundation in March this year and am just trying to do things right.
