Web SDR mobile app? (1 reply and 1 comment)
Hi Stephen,
The page to which the RSGB page is pointing (www.websdr.org) does have a long list of WebSDRs from around the world, along with a map with clickable pins for each receiver on the list.
It is not optimised for mobile devices, but its design is pretty basic, so it displays without problems. You may have to zoom in a bit to be able to read it though.
The page worked on my phone (a fairly new Android 10 phone, using Firefox as a browser). I tried two or three links, which all worked OK. Most WebSDRs seem to use the same user interface. Some offer an alternative version which is optimised for mobile devices.
If the links don't work on your phone, it may be a browser related issue.
The Kelvedon Hatch SDR in your post has been offline for a while. There are only a limited number of WebSDRs in the UK. When I looked on websdr.org today, they were:
In the South East / East of England:
- Watford, NW London (4m)
- Hertfordshire (St Albans/Welwyn Garden City) (160m, 80m, 40m, 20m)
- Bedford (Long wave, Medium Wave, 80m, 60m, 49m, 40m, 20m)
- Peterborough (160m and 80m)
- Farnham (6m, 4m, 2m, 70cm, 10 GHz (3cm))
In the Midlands / North West:
- Staffordshire (160m, 80m, 40m, 20m)
- Hack Green HF (160m, 80m, 60m, 40m, 17m)
- Hack Green VHF/UHF (10m, 4m, 2m, 70cm)
- Jodrell Bank (80m, 60m, 10/11m, 6m, 2m, 70cm, PMR446)
In the North East:
- Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire (10/11m, 6m, 2m, 740 MHz)
- Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire (2m, 70cm, 23cm)
In Wales:
- Conwy, North Wales (80m)
In the South West:
- Cornwall - Goonhilly (2m)
Hope this helps!

Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to listen in to some web sdr servers when I am out and about using my phone.
Ideally I would like to listen in to a local web sdr like the one described here: https://www.gb0snb.com/2017/04/web-sdr-installed/;
I've also looked through some of the links maintained on the RSGB page here https://rsgb.org/main/operating/web-sdr-receiver/;
Simply clicking a link to a server in my phone browser doesn't seem to work so I installed an app called pRxTx. That seems to work but it has a limited list of servers with the closest being near Jodrell Bank.
Please can anyone suggest a way of connecting to a bigger range of servers via a mobile phone?
Thanks:)
