In 2016, the Leiston ARC (on the Suffolk coast) announced the new VHF/UHF Co-ordinated Club Contest.
The first contest took place on the 23rd of February 2016, and it’s not just for the Leiston club – it’s for everyone. The aim is to get more people on-air, and to introduce people to the world of contesting
This takes place for just one hour a month and is a great opportunity to try your hand at some contesting – or just to be part of the action.
VHF/UHF CC Contest Details
There are four clubs who will be running the contest independently in the same time slot: Colchester RA, Felixstowe & District ARS, Leiston ARC and Medway ARTS (Other clubs are encouraged to sign up!).
- The contest will be on 2m and 70cm FM simplex (no repeaters!)
- There are more points for 70cm contacts – and you can work the same station on both bands for points.
- To stop people sitting on one channel all night, if you call CQ, you have to move frequency after you’ve made a contact. If you reply to a CQ, you can then keep the frequency and call CQ – you must move after the next contact.
- Max power – 10 watts only please!
- You chose which club adjudicates your entry – you don’t need to be a member. If you don’t choose a club, your log will be treated as a check log.
The new rules and log sheet are available at www.larc.org.uk/Contest.html
