Exam Hints and Tips
Sitting your amateur radio Foundation exam soon? Here are some hints and tips on how to prepare for your online exam – dealing with tricky questions, what to take into the exam, and how to make sure you don’t miss out on critical marks:
Studying for your Foundation Exam
There are several ways that you can study for your amateur radio Foundation exam:
- Using an online course, such as our Foundation Online
- With a local club – See the RSGB Course Finder
- Being helped by someone who is a radio amateur – family member, friend or from a local club
- From a book such as our Foundation Study Guide or the RSGB Foundation Licence Manual
Other Ways To Learn:
Here are some sources of material that could be of help to dyslexic learners:
Videos: Some people find watching and listening is helpful. Try our free Foundation Online – Course Videos
Printable slides: Our PowerPoint slides show the bullet points of what you need to know for the exam. See: Foundation Online – Course Slides
Audio book: An audio book of the Foundation training book is available, if you’d prefer to listen. Go to: RAIBC Services
Online courses: Our online course uses videos and on-screen lessons. Lessons need to be read and completed on-screen, but the text sizes can be changed, the text can be printed onto coloured paper, and it works with screen reading software. It may not be right for everyone, which is why we also offer videos. Our online course is free, and you can take it over and over again if required.
Audio Revision: We offer a short audio revision mp3 file which may help. Quick Revision Audio mp3
Tests: You can print sample test papers from the RSGB exam section of their website
Hopefully one or more of these options will work for you.
