Advanced Distance Learning Course (14 replies)
So have I, but looks like I made a mistake. I had planned to do the intermediate from CARS and simultaneously study for the Advanced Course. However, I just noticed that the Intermediate Course is not happening at CARS in 2015. The trainings page says "none in 2015 - the trainers are taking a break". Previously the webpage was showing a March 2015 date for the case. I know I was being overambitious in any case, but it looks like I wont be able to now progress even to the Intermediate Licence (forget about the Advanced) till may be mid-2016! Bohoooo !!
Ah that sucks! I wonder if Sears could be persuaded, off the back of their foundation course, if there are enough takers?
Hi Nick, I might be interested in this online course. Will check tomorrow if they still have spaces eveilable. May sounds good for exam as well.
Hi all, I've joined the bath based online advanced licence course too, starting tomorrow , eek ! I'm considering a couple of places to take my test at the moment , but I have time, just to wish everyone best wishes , and enjoy your course lessons whatever level you are on , and good luck for your exams . 73 from me xx
Looks like I'll be in good company on the course!
Hmm, I see that CARS have now removed the June exam date from their site, and I didn't get a reply from Clive when I tried to book on — um, do we need a backup plan?
Perhaps we can convince SEARS they need to do an advanced licence exam date sitting then, that would be two of us interested in taking it there xx
For anyone, able to get to London, wanting to do Intermediate there is a course starting soon at London Hackspace, see https://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/Amateur_Radio/Intermediate_Course_Q1_2015
Essex Intermediate course - The 23rd LEFARS Intermediate Licence practical assessment day-course and exam will be staged on Saturday, 7th March 2015. Email address for registration at https://www.lefars.org.uk/2020/12/training-news/
I have written to them, but haven't got any response yet. Wondering if anybody else has had any luck. Not sure how a practical assessment day-course works though.
For those looking for the advanced exam, happy to report CARS are holding the full exam on the 30-Jun-2015 date.

I've put my name down, hope to see a few of us from the distance learning course there :)

I've just enrolled on G0FUW's (author of the training books) Advanced Licence distance learning course.
This is a 20 week course, delivered online, which starts end of January 2015 and finishes in time for the June exam (which I hope to take at CARS). Cost is £30 which is refunded if you complete the course, and donated to charity if you drop out.
Still spaces available if any intermediates would like to join me!
