A quick reminder that this Sunday, the 4th of February 2018, is the Canvey Rally.
This is the 33rd Canvey Rally, and this popular annual event is run by the team at SEARS, the South Essex Amateur Radio Society.
The rally is a great place to go to pick up a bargain, catch up with local amateurs and clubs, and, of course, enjoy a SEARS bacon buttie.
Doors open at 10:30am. Admission price is £3. Parking at The Paddocks is free, and getting there early is always a good plan if you want a bargain (although that’s the busiest time)
All of the tables have been sold, so it’s set to be a busy event. If you’re coming along, please stop by the Essex Ham stand to say hello…

Rally Organiser Vic G6BHE appeared on BBC Essex on the 1st of Feb to promote this year’s event. Here’s a recording of the interview:

Got a handset that needs programming
For those who would like their radio programmed with local repeater settings plus a range of simplex frequencies, note that Ham Goodies will be providing this free service at the rally – this includes most of the Baofeng variants, plus Yaesus. DMR users can have the latest “South-East” DMR CodePlugs for the MD-380/RT-3 and MD-2017/RT-82 transceivers. The latest update sees a Contacts List refresh (900 in the MD-380 and all UK users in the MD-2017) plus the 67Hz CTCSS changes on the Martello Group repeaters.
Looking forward to catching up with lots of you on Sunday!
