The coming Monday, the 16th of February is the next CARS Skills Night – If you’re free, please come along for the usual mix of demonstrations, activities, tea and chat.
If you’ve attended one of the get-togethers before, you’ll know that we aim to bring you a good mix of demonstrations, an opportunity to ask questions, and plenty of time to chat and swap ideas. Here’s some of what we have planned for our February 2015 meet-up:
- HF Pedestrian Mobile: A new one for Skills, find out more and look at some impressive kit from Tom G0SBW
- Radio Programming: Charlie M0PZT will bring his kit to allow programming of repeaters for most handhelds (Baofeng/Yaesu especially) and FT-817 plus 857/897 (bring your DC cable).
- Digital Modes & Logging: In a dual-role for Charlie M0PZT, he’ll also be able to offer advice on these areas, and he’ll be bringing along a couple of Arduino boards, plus other bits & bobs
- Construction: Back after a short break, Peter M0PSD returns to help with cables & soldering. Need a patch lead? Come along!
- CW – Essex CW Club will be there to represent all aspects of Morse – Keep an ear out for Steve G4ZUL and Rob M0KCP
- Essex Repeater Group: Support the work of the ERG and get some advice on using the local repeaters from the team
- Antenna Advice: Help and advice on HF, antenna construction and design, ATUs, etc from Carl G3PEM.
- Callsign Badges – Back again by popular demand after the Canvey Rally – callsign badges while-you-wait courtesy of Jim 2E0JTW
- Windows Tablet – Pete M0PSX will bring along the new low-priced Linx Windows tablet, mentioned on Essex Ham and in Practical Wireless
- Quiz: Test your amateur radio knowledge, just for fun
- As always, representatives from CARS, Essex Repeater Group, Essex CW Club and Essex Ham will be on hand to help with questions
The list is subject to change, and availability.
