Thanks to those who attended our second “Galleywood Gathering” of the year, on Sunday the 11th of February 2018.
On a chilly and windy Sunday, around a dozen amateurs met on Galleywood Common. As it was a little “blowy”, there wasn’t a huge amount of radio – although kudos to Peter G0DZB for persevering longer than most (on HF CW from his car).
Some contacts were made on GB3DA, and Paul G7BHE made a few DMR contacts from his new DMR dual-bander purchased at last week’s rally.
The team was also on hand to assist with some antenna testing for a new local M6, and an inactive M1 amateur turned up to see what we were up to, and is now looking to reactivate his licence after a break of many years.
Most of the rest of the afternoon was taken up with socialising in the warmth of the pub (which has decent filter coffee) as well as the alcoholic stuff. Lots of good chat, friendly banter, and the day was also a good chance to kick around some ideas for activities in 2018
Thanks to all who turned up, either for the radio or for the social, and thanks to Charlie M0PZT for suggesting this event. We’re already considering the same again in about a month’s time, so keep an eye out for updates, here on the Essex Ham website.
