The Essex Ham Monday Night Net for the 2nd of July 2018 started at 8pm local time on GB3DA, the 2m repeater located at Danbury, near Chelmsford.
Our Monday Night Net launched back in 2011 and is still going strong. Everyone’s welcome to join, especially those who’ve recently got their licence and are looking for help with getting started in the hobby.
If you’re new to our Monday Night Net, you can find more information here: Monday Night Net
On this page, you’ll find a quick summary of who joined this week’s net, and what was discussed.
Live Chat: During the Net, we run an Internet chatroom. Go to www.essexham.co.uk/chat to get chatting during our nets – You need to create a free Essex Ham account to access our chatroom. |
Internet Feed: Not in range of the GB3DA? Several Internet feeds are available, including: Essex Ham’s Audio Feed or Essex Ham on TuneIn. |

A very busy net this week – one of the busiest in a while, and with lots of M6s taking part too!
Topics for the evening, as follows:
In tonight’s net, here’s what was discussed:
- SSTV Experiments, and SSTV from the ISS
- Galleywood Common event this Sunday
- The joys of Windows 10
- School sports days
- How often should you give your callsign?
- YL Net this weekend
- Pat Cash’s legs (best not to ask!)
- ARDF activities – geocaching for amateur radio
We also had three voices on the net – Jenson and Sydney (recently passed with TARG), and short greetings messages from Kathryn SWL.
The net wrapped at 10:30pm local time
Fairly busy in the chatroom too, with lots of controversial chat about club politics.
Thanks to everyone who took part on this week’s busy net.
A quick reminder that participants shouldn’t be making on-air references to any QRM, not addressing anyone who doesn’t hold an amateur radio licence. Feel free to log it using the Essex Ham QRM log though. Also, in the interests of being fair to all participants, please try to keep overs to under 2 minutes, and just one over per round (it’s the thing people complain about most often!)
