Here’s a summary of the activity on the Essex Ham Monday Night Net this evening, Monday 06 May 2013.
The net started at 8:00pm on GB3ER, as the GB3DA repeater is playing up again (well, it’s been a warm day, which lends weight to the heating cavities theory)
- Output Frequency: 433.075MHz
- Input Frequency: 434.675MHz
- CTCSS Tone: 110.9Hz
For details of the net, see www.EssexHam.net
Here’s the attendance list for this week’s net:
- Pete M0PSX in Southend, in the chair
- Phil M0IMA in Swanscombe
- Dean M6BYF in Kent
- Chris M6EDF
- Joel G0URK in Chelmsford (now running voice idents on his D-Star Raspberry Pi node)
- Steve M0SHQ in Maldon
- James 2E1GUA in Writtle
- Ian 2E0EOM in Hockley
- Gary G0BDY in Brentwood
- Neil G0RNU in Tilbury

Topics for the evening as follows:
- Some of you trekked off to the Kempton Rally – thanks for the update
- Chris M6EDF’s been flying balloons – See our video on how to track high altitude balloons – Lots of questions for Chris about frequencies, chase cars and data formats.
- Can you decode D-Star? In theory, yes, $30 for the decoder chip, according to Joel. It’s not possible from software and a dongle though.
- The joys of trying to get registered on the D-Star networks – Joel’s asked the Essex Repeater Group if he can handle registration for the GB7ZP D-Star repeater. Fingers crossed.
- Who would you most like to talk to on ham radio? ISS astronauts came out high, as expected.
