The Essex Ham Monday Night Net for 21st December 2015 started at 8pm local time on GB3DA, the 2m repeater located at Danbury, near Chelmsford.
Live Chat: During the Net, we run an Internet chatroom. Go to www.essexham.co.uk/chat to get chatting during our nets – You need to create a free Essex Ham account to access our chatroom. |
Internet Feed: Not in range of GB3DA? Several Internet feeds are available, including: Monday Night Net uStream (Thanks to Nick M0NFE) – There’s also Essex Ham’s Audio Feed (In BETA, and not always online). On a Smartphone, try SouthEastRadio on Zello |

Topics for the evening, as follows:
In a very busy net (and chatroom), lots was covered, including:
- The RSGB Survey – Open till the end of December 2015 (Interview with RSGB to follow)
- Mag Mounts – Are they chavvy?
- Should an X30 colinear be mounted directly above am 11-element Yagi? Advice is to leave at least a quarter wavelength (50cm) clearance
- From January 2016, Medway RAYNET will be using GB3DA for their net on a Wednesday (1st & 4th Wednesday in the month). TARG’s Net apparently will be moving to Friday, from January. Thanks to Ozzie in Medway for the update, and glad we could help.
- Great to see some new callsigns after recent exam successes – including three Essex Ham members 2E0DSX, 2E0WHB and M0SSK. Also, M6YAX in the chatroom for the first time
- Skills Night – Thanks to Keith for highlighting that Stockport is now running a Skills Night, as is Suffolk
- For the RAYNET members in Kent and Essex, an update on the weekend’s national Exercise Globalset
- Well done to three young amateurs, passed at Thurrock Acorns tonight (all three used Essex Ham’s Foundation Online course for revision)
- What is an IRLP Node?
- The joys of DMR
- AMPRNet (AMateur Packet Radio Network) in Essex
- Cats vs Dogs
Got a comment about this week’s Monday Night Net? Please add it below.
IRLC should read IRLP which is just like echolink but minus the pc software side of things. It is big across North America.
Whoops. Now fixed – Ta! Pete
DOGS, I will love him, I will hug him, I will call him Wulfwod ;-)
I guess you had to be there !
Cats rule!
