Perhaps it was a very long drive Dorothy!
This year shod be No Discclaimer,But this will not happen bcos Essexham is skeed of ERG!
Hello again James. You’re here as well as Twitter having the same discussion!!
I’ve discovered that the disclaimer came about due to a local club having a problem with the popularity of the Essex ham / ERG nets and that the problem stopped because of the disclaimer which they agreed together.
It does sound a bit pants and pointless, but if it does the job, then why not??

To be clear, we fully support the ERG – Without a decent repeater such as GB3DA, the four groups who use GB3DA for their nets wouldn’t be able to cover such a wide area. It’s only fair to make repeater users aware that repeaters aren’t free and aren’t funded by Ofcom/RSGB. They need funds to cover running costs, and we feel it’s a courtesy to make that known.
The wording we use on the site and on-air on both the Monday and YL nets, was supplied to us by ERG, and used with their blessing.
The second part, the “disclaimer” may seem unnecessary, but it’s made a difference, so has its place. We used to receive comments (directly and indirectly) from ‘monitors’ that some of what happens on our nets was some form of breach of licence terms, and there have been issues with some of what’s been said by participants, or otherwise misinterpreted. Since the disclaimer, those comments have dried up – so it works.
Hope that clarifies.
So you’re a victim of the local amateur radio police, are you?? Let me guess – they don’t target or key the other local nets. Am I right??
Name and shame; and then the speculation can end once and for all!!
