The two flagship Olympic Amateur Radio stations both went live today, Wednesday 25th July 2012:
- 2O12L (2 Oscar 1 2 Lima) – Operating from Greenwich, London
- 2O12W (2 Oscar 1 2 Whiskey) – Whitmore Bay, Barry Island, Wales
We’ve already worked the Wales station (7.163MHz, Operator Steven) and we’re listening to the pileup for the London station on 7.143MHz
The Wales station is aiming for 20,000 contacts over seven week, with the London station operating 24 hours a day for seven weeks, aiming for 60,000 contacts .
Both station are open to the public for visits, and if the Olympics are your thing, these are good stations to work, so give them a try.
London Frequencies: See www.2o12l.com/index.php?page=operating – As you’ll see, they’re working all the bands from 160m to 2m
