Three Essex Hams are planning a DXpedition on Sunday the 20th of January to St. Peter’s On The Wall, near Bradwell. All are welcome to attend, or to try to work the team.
** UPDATE: Event on 20 Jan 2013 – POSTPONED due to bad weather **
The event has been organised by Lucy M6ECG, Rob M6KDP and James 2E1GUA, and it’s hoped that other Essex Hams join them for this day of operation.
Here are the details of the event, provided to us by Rob M6KDP:
We meet up on the beach near the ancient church of St Peters on the Wall, near Bradwell on Sunday 20th about 09:30. The beach is just a short walk along the sea wall northwards from the church, past the old lookout tower.
Directions: To get there, navigate onto the Dengie Peninsula towards Bradwell-On-Sea (not Bradwell Waterside), then follow East End Road out towards St Peters. About 200m before the St Peters public car park, take a left into East Hall Farm. Follow the signs for Othona until you get to the car park. It’s a 2 minute walk to the beach. Alternatively, you can simply park in the St Peters public car park, but it’s a 10 minute walk to from there.

We have been offered use of toilet facilities by the very kind people in the Othona community who live close by. They have also given us access to their car park, which means we don’t have to walk too far.
The Maidenhead locator for this spot is JO01LR.
The Dxpedition is weather-dependent, and Lucy and Rob will make a decision early on Sunday morning as to whether the event will proceed or not. Please keep an eye on the Essex Ham Forum thread for updates: Portable in Bradwell 20 Jan 2013
We wish the guys and girl well, and hope the weather’s good for this event. If you’re staying wrapped up in the warm, try to listen out for them!
I’ll be monitoring usual calling frequencies on 20m for you on Sunday guys.
As per usual 7w max power from me, so please listen for my scratchy sigs :-)
Hope wx is kind to you and you have a succesful outing.
