Thanks to Andy G1GKN for sending us the following field event report:
The Easter weekend saw the second annual Thames Amateur Radio Group Easter Camping and Caravanning field day at Crowsheath Fisheries, Downham, Essex.
The event was well attended, with 10 stations staying the weekend in their tents or caravans and several members turning up daily to operate from a variety of vehicles. In all 23 people attended of which 20 were licensed amateurs.
Stations were active on most bands from 160m to 2m using mostly SSB. Although conditions on the HF bands were not great, the quiet RF environment of the Crowsheath campsite gave the edge and contacts were made all over the world.
The evening entertainment consisted of a Good Friday barbeque, a Saturday curry night and a Sunday night social, which everybody thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks to Andy G1GKN for the report and photo. Further camping and caravanning events at Crowsheath are planned for July 23rd-30th and also Sept 26th-30th 2014 if you couldn’t make the Easter event
