On Saturday the 11th of July 2015, the Essex Wildlife Trust (EWT) held a craft event at their Thurrock Thameside Nature Park (located near Stanford le Hope) and members of the Thurrock Acorns Amateur Radio Club were asked if they would like to participate.
During the day, TAARC ran two transmitting stations speaking to stations both in the UK and overseas, using the callsign GB1EWT.
The following picture shows two club members: Stella G0EKP sending Morse to a station located overseas, with Chris G0EKN supporting her keeping the log. Peter G4FQF is keeping watch in the background.
The station was located in the Essex Wildlife visitor centre. This building overlooks the Thames Estuary which gives visitors superb views over the river as well as being able to observe all the local wild life as it explores the mud flats and land around the building.
The chairman of the radio club, Nick G4HCK said: “The weather could not have been better and we were pleased to have been able to support the EWT.”
